Wife, Mother, and Maker
I started working with metal in 2011. It came out of LOVE. My hubby and I met on an online dating service. We hit it off immediately, spending hours on the phone talking before we could ever meet in person. I lived 3 hours from him. We met in August, 2011, and I moved to Louisiana September, 2011. He handcrafted a nickel coin ring as a promise ring and gave it to me the day I moved in. We just celebrated our anniversary on June 21, Summer Solstice. We got married, barefoot, in our front yard under two huge trees. Those trees still adorn our front yard. Every time they bloom, it thrills me all over again. I tell him all the time he gave me roots that day. My whole life I had moved from place to place. By my parents at first and then later in a previous marriage. JW had lived here in Louisiana his whole life, surrounded by family. To be able to unpack and know that I didn't have to go anywhere again was the greatest thrill. I planted my feet here in Louisiana that day. I have created my business and this passion for metalwork because of that simple coin ring he gifted me. This is my love story. This is the love that I hope to share through my creations. From my hands to yours, I cherish each piece I send out into the world.
I believe working in multiple mediums allows you the freedom of exploration when creating a new piece. Each new piece is an idea manifested in its own individual style and process. I frequently use salvaged and reclaimed metals in the hopes that I am helping the planet. Sterling silver is beautiful in its own way. I enjoy working with it when I can. I get some of the copper and wire from old home remodels and salvage yards. I use this in my artisan copper sculptures and jewelry.
I enjoy being surrounded by nature and many of my pieces are directly influenced by nature's beauty and uniqueness. I love recreating plants and wildlife both in wearable art pieces as well as sculptures. Traveling through Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas has offered me many ideas for new creations. Currently located in North East Louisiana, I hope to one day travel across the United States sharing my work and being inspired by my journeys.
